In May 2025, Helia lodged their Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) compliance report for 2024/2025. Helia is pleased to confirm that it meets all of the minimum standards for reporting organisations against each of the WGEA’s ‘gender equality indicators’. Notably, our achievements this year include our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts emphasising gender pay equity, ongoing investment in leadership development and a continued emphasis on flexible and inclusive work environments.

The video explores the real-life journey of first home buyers Mitch and Amelia who, with the help of their mortgage broker, were able to break free from renting and buy their first home with Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI). The video helps home buyers understand the benefits of leveraging LMI to enter the property market now, rather than waiting to save a 20% deposit and the importance of being guided by a mortgage broker to make a well-informed decision.

11 July 2024 – Helia releases their 2024 Spotlight, a home buyer sentiment survey. Key findings:
- Over 75% of prospective home buyers have saved less than a 20% deposit
- 58% of home buyers are aware of alternative pathways including LMI to enter the property market sooner
- Home buyers are prioritising essential expenditure and cheaper alternatives including limiting electricity and medical treatments in order to save.

Our 2024 report in partnership with Mortgage and Finance Association (MFAA), explores mortgage broker perceptions of Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI), how mortgage brokers talk about LMI with their clients and how much home buyers currently know about LMI. The research highlights the vital role mortgage brokers play in demystifying LMI.
Helia releases Home Buyer Sentiment Report
3 November 2023 – Pursuit of home ownership remains strong whilst the housing market continues to defy expectations.
The 2023 report explores home ownership in Australia and home buyer sentiment across first home buyers, refinancers and investors.
- Stopping paying rent (51%) is the top reason for FHBs to buy property, followed by ‘the dream of owning property’ (42%) and long-term investment (34%)
- 60% say it’s a good time to buy. But this sentiment is driven by fear rather than optimism, with the top reasons being ‘rent not affordable' (39%) and ‘before prices rise further’ (45%)
- 31% are unaware of alternative pathways to get onto the property ladder
- To save for a deposit, almost a quarter of those surveyed have taken on a second job and are cutting back on health expenses
- Four in five home buyers are likely to use a mortgage broker to obtain a loan for their property.
