Sustainability policy
At Helia, we work hard to deliver on our purpose: to accelerate financial wellbeing through home ownership, now and for the future.
Our approach.
Our approach to sustainability is also key in delivering on our purpose.
It ensures that we consider our impact on, and stay accountable to, the people and world around us. Through our sustainability commitments, we strive to deliver social, economic and environmental value through what we do and how we operate.
Driving financial wellbeing & housing accessibility
We know that home ownership is key to securing financial wellbeing. And we understand how complex and increasingly out of reach buying a home can feel for many Australians.
Helia is committed to providing the education, solutions and community support needed to help more people access and stay in homes.
Enhancing climate resilience
We’re enhancing the climate resilience of our business by understanding and responding to climate risks, sharing our research and knowledge, and supporting the development of green products across our industry. We are doing our bit to reduce emissions, minimise waste and plan for a net zero future.
Good corporate citizenship
Our philosophy is simple: we strongly believe in responsible and ethical business practices that make the world a better place.
We champion diversity through driving a supportive and inclusive culture and collaborate with our trusted partners to make a positive impact on the communities in which we operate.
Modern slaveryAt Helia, we believe in respecting human rights and that we have an important part to play in addressing the critical risk of modern slavery, both in Australia and globally. Our approach to modern slavery across all of our business activities helps to uphold Helia’s core values and achieve our vision of creating long term, sustainable value for the communities in which we operate. Reconciliation Action PlanHelia’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) commitment lays the foundations for us to establish meaningful and long-term relationships that contribute to reconciliation in a structured, relevant, and respectful way. We recognise reconciliation involves a recognition of Australia’s history coupled with contemporary collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are committed to raising awareness and encouraging a deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, including their cultures, histories, achievements, and aspirations throughout Helia. A key part of Helia’s reconciliation process is to improve our company’s internal awareness and understanding of the continuing challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait communities in Australia and to develop culturally appropriate policies that reflect Helia’s commitment to reconciliation. Helia intends to explore opportunities to make positive contributions by improving our services and economic participation in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and enterprises.
