Our heritage.

Home ownership has long been recognised as a foundation for financial wellbeing. In 1965, Australia introduced Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI) to help more people buy a home with a smaller deposit while supporting a strong and sustainable home lending market.

Helia's heritage traces back to Australia's first provider of LMI. For more than 60 years, we have partnered with lenders to share and manage risk, helping make home ownership more accessible while strengthening the resilience of Australia's housing finance system.

Since 2010, we have helped more than 1.2 million people achieve home ownership.
